The New Golden Mile is a real estate reference
Marbella, known as the Florida of southern Spain, remains the most glamorous part of the popular Costa del Sol. Unfortunately, real estate in the city of Marbella is saturated because of the limited availability of places intended for construction. That is why regional authorities have chosen to grant licenses for construction in the areas around the city. Many ambitious plans for new projects have been developed and many of these have already started with the deliveries. In this way the New Golden Mile between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona is born.
The area has warmly welcomed the opening of the new underpass under San Pedro de Alcantara in late June 2012, making access to Marbella Centre and further towards the East easy.
This new real estate sector is a corridor that extends from the west side of Guadalmina all the way to the west towards the start of the center of Estepona. The name that this development was given to this area during the property boom of the 2000s and although this name is commonly used on the coast it is not really an official name at all. Due to the success and exclusivity of the neighboring “Golden Mile” in Marbella, the theory was that such a denomination help ensure this location almost facing the beach.
There is a large variety of properties for sale in the New Golden Mile, Estepona, with many new prestigious housing developments, apartments next to golf and luxury penthouses with sea views in impressive places. Since 2014, the New Golden Mile has undoubtedly become one of the privileged hotspots for real estate on the south coast. It is the home of a large shopping center called Laguna Village, where many designer shops are located, as well as the world-famous Puro Beach Club, where women like to shop, while men enjoy the Marbella golf courses.

A property in this area puts you within walking distance of the lively town of Marbella to the east and the quieter town of Estepona in the west. This place has good facilities and is a family resort, often chosen for its tranquility compared to Marbella. The New Golden Mile runs along the coast in its entirety so most of it is beach front property and many apartments enjoy beachfront views. The fast highway (A7) provides easy access to both the Malaga airport and Sotogrande and Gibraltar
It is not as expensive as the original Marbella Golden Mile, but it still offers a direction with a touch of luxury. This part of the coast has some of the best beach clubs on the Costa del Sol, including Puro Beach in Laguna Pueblo, Titikano Beach and Villa Padierna Beach Club. And there are several large luxury hotels, including the Kempinski Bay.
Many apartment complexes enjoy a location on the beach with the added advantage of quieter beaches than many resorts on the Costa del Sol. With a low density and extensive unspoilt coastline means that this coast offers peace and space, often difficult to find on other beaches of the Costa del Sol. Its proximity to Estepona to the west and El Paraíso to the east means that there is a good variety of services within walking distance of the area. El Paraiso offers several supermarkets, banks and a number of other stores, as well as a variety of restaurants. Estepona, although small, offers services such as health clinics (both state and private), a post office, bars, restaurants and also has an attractive marina.
The New Golden Mile and its golf courses is an ideal place for fans of this sport who have easy access to the golf courses in Marbella (there are several in the Golf Valley) and those in Estepona including the renowned Los Flamingos golf course.
